Using sustainable materials

We use kiln–dried beech or birch in the majority of our production. These woods are tried and tested for their durability and stability both during construction and within the varying conditions they will encounter in their usage.

We are always happy to work with our clients’ choices of timber depending on suitability for the design and we regularly source several other varieties of hardwood.

Some frame designs require extensive use of panel products. Although birch plywood is our preference, we stock many alternative sheet materials to suit individual product demands or client specification.

Where possible we will always attempt to use British home–produced timber. However, colour and quality requirements with show–wood sometimes dictate the use of imported material. Nagro (Frames) Ltd now has FSC® certification (FSC C109654) and will supply FSC products on request. We source all our materials from well-managed temperate forests. We do not work with endangered/tropical/rainforest species.
